Nicknamed ‘Boomtown,’ Williston, North Dakota has been a booming commerce center for centuries because of its proximity to the Lake Sakakawea reservoir. Williston lends its name to the Williston Basin which sits atop the Bakken formation which has been predicted to be producing more oil than any other site in the United States. Because of this growth, Williston has realized a large population increase and makes North Dakota the second largest oil-producing state in the nation.
